I am writing this 3 weeks after brain surgery to deal with an abnormal growth on my pituitary gland.
I would like to thank all who have been praying for me : relatives, friends, St. James's Prayer Group, Kinross Christian Fellowship, the Prayer Group Network, and elsewhere throughout God's church, and people I don't even know but who have been willing to pray for me.
The two sessions of prayer ministry with the St. James's Prayer Group, and anointing with oil according to the scriptures, were particularly meaningful and amazing experiences which produced words, pictures and scriptures for me to ponder and follow in the days leading up to my operation.
Indeed, I felt uplifted, cherished, and protected by God's Holy Spirit and the love of my Christian brothers and sisters.
The 3 days I spent in hospital prior to my operation were a bit of a challenge, but the victory was already won - by Jesus' stripes we are healed. I read and re-read the notes of the healing ministry prayer times, the prophetic poem I was given, and the various cards I had been given containing appropriate scripture passages.
At about 2130 on the evening before my operation (scheduled for first thing next morning), I was given the following words when I needed them most :
"I uphold you. I will keep you safe. You are my precious child. You are being refined to enable you to do the work I have in store for you. I want to build you up, to increase your faith and trust in me, to trust me with your life. Just let go and lean on me. Hand over all your cares, worries and anxieties to me now. Trust and don't doubt. I want you and your family to have life in abundance. I want you all to thrive and bring glory to my name. My gift of healing I pour out on you. Rest in this knowledge and be at peace. I will never leave you nor forsake you. I surround you with my love."
I was also given the scripture passage of the 23rd Psalm, which took on a whole new meaning for me.
When I awoke from the anaesthetic, I knew I was OK. God was in control of every last detail. Next day, the physiotherapist even had me walking along the corridor and up some stairs !!
The treatment and care in the hospital were just amazing. God truly blessed the surgeons, doctors, anaesthetists, and nurses who performed the operation and cared for me afterwards.
When I was discharged from hospital, I was given another prophetic poem, which reinforced everything God was doing, and which was an amazing match to the words given above and to previous words I had been given.
Lord God, I thank you for the healing you have blessed me with, for your care and protection, and for the love and prayers of my Christian brothers and sisters.
Thank you one and all for your prayers and your love - they mean more to me than I could ever have imagined. I thank you for your patience, your prayers, your faithfulness, and your caring love for me. May God bless each one of you in abundance.
Alan.
